SUDAN IRON ORE MINE, SUDAN, MN

We went on a tour 1/2 mile underground

You enter 6'x6' cages with ten other people to be lowered into the mine

You are lowered by this Headframe

You get in these cars to move thru the tunnel

This is the little electric tug the pulls or pushes you thru the tunnel

The blue is the Iron Ore

To get to the drilling sight you had to go up manways. The miners used wooden ladders the spiral staircase is for the tourists.

They would always drill up and blast using the slag to build a new floor to go higher

Used to move supplies like dynamite

Ore conveyor to load the train cars

This mine is a State Park and is on the National Historical Registry

MY FIRST WALLEYE

Went fishing with our Managers and we limited out in two hours

My first Walleye

Walleye are lazy and you have to have the feel of your line to know when you have one on. They don't fight much as you reel them in either. So now I am an official Minnesota fisherman. Oh, the limit is 4 Walleye or six with 2 Sauger. In the picture notice the white on the bottom of the tail, that is how you tell which is a Walleye.

Happy Fishing

THE TOYS ARE READY FOR THE LITTLE AND BIG KIDS

Today we were able to finish installing the last water toy "THE TOWER"

This water toy has a climbing wall, slide and bounce-launch tube. The kids love it.

Right next to "THE TOWER" is the Trampoline

The Trampoline also has a balance tube attached.

We have a beach full of toys for the little kids too.

Now for us Older Folks we have our exercise Hydro-Bikes. Virg and I have been out quite far on these things.
Very stable and fund to ride.

So now that you see all the fun things we have it will be fun watching the guests enjoy them. As you can see in this pic we also have canoes and kayaks. We also have a fleet of bikes from tiny tot size to a real nice mountain bike. No one should be bored here on vacation. If you want to see us live log on to www.NLRO.com and check out the web cam we just had installed. We will be waving at you.

Lots of Navigational Aids to keep you from getting lost

Kayaks on the Beach

Nice cabins on some of the Islands
They were there before it became a National Park

Boat-in only Camp spots

Kettle Falls Landing

Only place you can look South into Canada

Your bathroom is down the hall

Our Managers Harlan & Heidi with Virg in the middle.
